Little Bo is not just a vase; it's a four-legged creature that invites the user to define its personality. The flower, rather than being an alien element, becomes an integral part of the design, serving as the head of the creature. The ever-changing nature of flowers allows the personality of Bo to evolve, offering a dynamic and engaging user experience.
The vase is a testament to the simplicity of Scandinavian design and the subtlety of Spanish craftsmanship. Crafted from porcelain, Bo's exterior surface is brushed to achieve a raw matte finish, while the interior is glazed for watertightness. The vase measures 80 mm x 120 mm x 200.0 mm, making it a versatile piece for various spaces.
Despite its seemingly simple design, the creation of Bo involved a complex digital design process, including the use of organic modeling software and 3D printing. This technology was crucial not only for prototyping but also for generating the master model that guided the production. The production process required a strong dialogue between Bautista and the manufacturing artisans, with the model being modified several times to adapt to the physical constraints of the fabrication process.
One of the main challenges during the design process was the legs of the piece. They were a critical element during fabrication, and several proportions were proposed and tested in the workshop until the final production was set. Despite these challenges, Bautista's dedication and innovative approach resulted in a design that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing.
Little Bo is more than a vase; it's a design that encourages interaction and personalization. It's a testament to Bautista's innovative approach to design, merging traditional craftsmanship with modern technology. With its unique design and engaging user experience, Little Bo is a deserving winner of the Golden A' Furniture Design Award.
